Cougar Sighting in Chicago For the past few weeks, there
have been numerous sightings of a large cougar in the North Chicago
area. The cougar was shot and killed by police officers late in the
afternoon on Monday in an alley off North Hamilton Road in Chicago.
Many doubted such an animal actually was sighted. This picture of the
dead cougar proves those folks
wrong.
For those in the western states,
such news may not sound like a big deal. But, cougars have not roamed
Illinois for decades. A cougar sighting in a heavily populated area
like Lake County and northern Cook County has not happened in a
lifetime.
Lets
wait and see if the Department of Natural Resources determines if the
cougar is wild or actually a tamed pet. There have been a number of
cougar sightings in Downstate Illinois in recent years. Very few have
been confirmed and those who have reported the sightings have been
treated like UFO observers. Maybe this event will shine a light on the
fact that cougars are making a comeback in the midwest.
